Wendy Richard died yesterday aged 65,she had been suffering with cancer for a while,and finally passed away at her Harley Street clinic where she was being treated for her breast cancer,her husband John Burns who she had recently married,was at her bedside when she died.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer as early as 1996,but she fully recovered,but the cancer returned in 2002,and again she over came it. The cancer returned for a third time in 2008,this time however the cancer had spread and became terminal.

Wendy had a long career in the entertainment industry,appearing in many classic TV shows during the 70′s,including Dads Army,Up Pompei and The Likely lads,before landing the role that was to make her a household name,that of Miss Brahms in the comedy series Are You Being Served?. The show ran from 1972 to 1985.

She then took a chance on joining a new BBC soap opera called Eastenders,where she played the character of Pauline Fowler,she was to remain with the soap for the next 21 years.
